The Bradford Durfee Textile School of Fall River was authorized as a municipal institution by Massachusetts in 1899 and became a state institution in 1918. It was renamed the Bradford Durfee Technical Institute of Fall River in 1946 and the Bradford Durfee College of Technology in 1957. Bradford Durfee Textile School in Fall River, MA was chartered in 1895 and incorporated in 1899, but did not open for classes until 1904. It offered 3 and 2 year diploma courses and certificate programs in textile manufacturing, design, engineering and chemistry. In 1947 it was authorized to award the bachelor of science.
